Tim & Tonya Vennell
Missionaries in Lesotho
Tim and Tonya Vennell are missionaries with Mission Aviation Fellowship. They have four daughters, Lauren, Lydia, Natalie, and Courtney and one son, Carson Tyler. After serving a two-year term in the Democratic Republic of Congo they began serving in Lesotho.
A special verse for them is found in Psalms 118:24. “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Tim shares, “I have a hard time remembering to rejoice at all times. This verse helps me to remember that each day is truly from the Lord.”
Tim was raised in a Christian home in Amarillo, Texas. At 12 years of age he met the Lord in a personal way at church camp. Through involvement in the youth group at his church he continued to grow spiritually and became involved in short term mission trips to Mexico. In 1989 he went on a three-month trip to Tanzania where he was first exposed to the use of mission aviation.
Tim attended Amarillo College and then Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He graduated from Moody Aviation in Tennessee with a BS in Mission Aviation Technology. Tim holds a commercial pilot’s license with multiple ratings (CFIA, SEL. MEL), an aircraft maintenance license (A&P), and an Inspectors rating (IA). Tonya was raised in Spearfish, South Dakota in a Christian home. She received the Lord as her Savior at age 5 in a backyard Bible club. Her parent’s example of daily devotions and a consistent prayer life was a great influence on her. It was during her college years that she dedicated her life to missions.
Tonya attended Sioux Falls University for a year and a half, then transferred to Black Hills State University, graduating with a BA in elementary education and special education. She then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for Bible classes. It was there that she met Tim and they were married a year and a half later.
Tim and Tonya enjoy their service for the Lord with MAF, helping other missionaries accomplish what God has called them to do. They also enjoy building relationships in the community and local church with the nationals.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Tonya says, “As we seek God’s will for our lives, trusting Him and what He has in store for us, we can claim the promise in these verses.”
To fund the worldwide ministry of MAF, God is faithful in providing loyal, generous ministry support from His most caring people. He has called the men and women of MAF to serve Him in a unique way. He is also calling people like you around the world to play a special role in the ministry of MAF.
You are invited to become a ministry partner with Tim and Tonya in this strategic ministry. Please prayerfully consider involvement with them through prayer or financial support.
